Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Welcome to the Continuing professional development (CPD) section of the NELC Primary Framework for ICT website. In this section there are materials to support in-school CPD, which is a key element in the drive for improving teaching and learning in primary school ICT. The materials are organised into three main sections to help you access the relevant resources and guidance. The sections are:
- Senior leadership team (SLT) –Becta’s self-review framework offers you a route for assessing and improving your school’s use of ICT. The framework is free to use via an online tool and is linked to the national standards for ICT. It can help:
- show you what “good” use of ICT looks like
- benchmark your progress against other schools
- identify your strengths
- produce action plans for improvement.
Information about the self review framework can be accessed from http://tlfe.org.uk/ict/ictmark/ or from the link under CPD
- Teacher ICT skills – Planning for professional development in ICT will encompass individual development needs but will also be closely linked to the school’s strategic developments in ICT. Below is a Word document which schools can use to assess teacher’s ICT skills .
- Next steps -
- provide quality support and training activities for all staff in the use of
- ICT for effective teaching and learning. Information about this can be found from the following document NELC ICT Course planner 2007 - 2008 or from the ICT course link under CPD.
- review, monitor and evaluate professional development as an integral part of the development of your school
